Pastor Curran Jay Hunter

Pastor C.J. Hunter was born to Thaddeus and Edith Hunter on August 26, 1967 in Norfolk, VA.

At the age of two Pastor Hunter's family moved to Miami, Florida however he frequently visited his grandparents in Portsmouth, Virginia. At the age of 15, Pastor Hunter received a prophetic word from his Grandmother Sarah who served faithfully as a minister at True Way Evangelistic Church, that he would one day preach.

In April of 1994 while serving in the U.S. Navy Pastor Hunter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Christian Fellowship Church in Waukegan, IL where he diligently served as one of the Children's Church Superintendents as well as labored in other ministries for nine years.

Upon returning to Norfolk, Virginia in 2003 Pastor Hunter laid a fleece before the Lord for divine direction and joined New Beginnings Christian Ministries. He accepted the call as Children’s Church Superintendent, laboring in that ministry for 3 years. Because of his faithfulness Pastor Hunter was later voted onto the Board of Directors. In 2007 Pastor Hunter was ordained by Pastor Duane K. Robinson as the Assistant Pastor, where he faithfully served under Pastor Timothy Lark for seven years. In June of 2013, Pastor Hunter was elevated and Ordained by Apostle Harold Whack as Sr. Pastor thus fulfilling the prophetic words of his grandmother Sarah that he would preach.

As God began to grow and shift the ministry in another direction, the church name changed in 2015 to New Beginnings Christian Outreach Ministries; reflecting the vision and mandate that God had given us to Go into the highways and hedges and compel the people to come in...Luke 14:23

Pastor Hunter attended Regent University where he majored in New Testament Studies and is currently enrolled at Faith Bible College where he will obtain his degree in Divinity. He also served 24 years in the U.S. Navy where he retired as Chief Petty Officer.

Pastor Hunter is married to Lisa Hunter for 30 years. They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
